You will be hearing a lot about property in Alanya in the coming months and years. Until recently Alanya seemed like one of the best kept secrets in Turkish tourism.
That is, the place’s beauty, climate, great beaches and views made it one of Turkey’s top tourist destinations, but only with Turks, and those from within a short haul flight away. This is because the nearest airport to Alanya was in Antalya, over an hour away.
So beautiful and unspoilt is Alanya that it is home to the largest population of British expats in Turkey, where they are joined by expats from around the world and millions of tourists (from the aforementioned places) each summer. The airport had, until this year, kept Alanya property from seeing the kind of exposure to overseas property buyers (holiday home buyers and investors) that Turkey’s other tourist towns had attracted.
Gazipasa Airport to Boost Property in Alanya
Note the: until this year. Airport operators TAV sprang onto the scene last year, promising to open Gazipasa airport just a few minutes from Alanya. It was something that we had all heard before many times, and therefore something that was taken with more than a pinch of salt. However, since then the airport has received its test flight, opened, and began serving the domestic route between Gazipasa and Istanbul.
Now that we know TAV is serious and genuine, we are not taking their other statements with any salt. According to TAV spokespersons the runways are currently too small to welcome international flights, but are being expanded. International coverage is expected to commence when the expansion is completed next year. Property in Alanya will be boosted massively by international flights to Gazipasa airport, and it will likely spur a wave of development and growth.
