Where Is The Cheapest Place To Buy Property in Turkey?

written by L R December 19, 2017

If you are looking for an excellent property deal then Turkey is for you. Affordable property is found throughout this vast country but if you’re looking for something under £40,000 then look to the Aegean coastline and the resort of Altinkum otherwise known as Didim. Altinkum is in the province of Aydin and is close to Bodrum airport and is only about an hour’s drive away making Altinkum an ideal spot for a holiday home.

Altinkum is not a major city it’s a smallish town nevertheless it is a super little holiday resort with everything you could wish for, ideal for families, couples and friends with not only one but three fabulous golden sandy beaches, this lovely bustling coastal town has something for everyone. Altinkum actually means “golden sand” and this area is referred to as the main beach area and tourist resort. Didim or Didyma is the location of the resort itself,

The stunning 623 berth yacht Marina which has a heliport, fantastic shopping centre, bars and restaurants and covers 287,000 m2 it’s located between Parlementerler and the third beach and its official title is Didim D-Marina it’s the largest Marina in the Southern Aegean and quite rightly so it boasts of being larger than Bodrum’s 450 berth site.

On the outskirts of the town is the magnificent Apollo Temple and Oracle, it’s the most historical feature in Didim and visitors come to see the beautiful ruins by their thousands it’s a must for the history lovers and guided tours are available so you can learn the history of these valued ruins. Didim means “twin” and according to a legend, it refers to the twin God and Goddess, Apollo and Artemis who was said to have been born here.

Altinkum has cafes, bars and restaurants galore and a fun fair for the youngsters, at the beach, there is a whole host of water sports on offer from snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, parasailing, water skiing, canoeing, banana rides, Jet Ski and ringo.

There are lots of excursion tours offered daily from boat trips, jeep safaris, Turkish nights, Turkish baths, hiking, and night market visits.

Daily boat trips discover the surrounding bays and you can even take a day trip to the Greek Island of Kos. Nearby is the lovely resort towns of Kusadasi and Bodrum where you can also visit, and there is the beautiful village of Sirince with its cobbled narrow streets it’s a sheer delight to visit and they produce their own wine and you can taste before you buy. Breakfast at Bafa Lake has to be on your to-do list, it’s surrounded by a natural park and is outstandingly beautiful; it was once part of the Aegean Sea and turned into a lake as a result of the Great Menderes Delta. You can visit Bafa Lake and one of the delightful restaurants anytime not only at breakfast but it’s a wonderful part of the day to visit and is loved by holidaymakers and locals alike.

Beautiful 2 bedroom apartments are for sale for under £40,000 and you will pay less for a 1 bedroom apartment. This is an ideal investment as you can rent your property out and the rental returns are lucrative, this holiday resort is popular throughout the season and the season here lasts for around 7 months. As the winters are mild it’s not uncommon for tourists to visit during the winter months and at Christmas and New Year too. Generally, buyer’s first purchase is a 2 bedroom apartment and over time they then decide to buy themselves a villa, keeping the initial 2 bedroom apartment as an investment to rent out thus making their money work for them.

If you are looking for something a little more upmarket then head to Bodrum and its surrounding areas, this coastline is particularly lovely and Bodrum has a lot to offer for not much more money. This area still appeals to families, couples and groups of friends but the overall vibe is different. It’s a cosmopolitan city drawing holidaymakers from across the globe with its many beautiful buildings, history and architecture, castle and the luxury marina.

The Aegean coastline offers luxury properties at very affordable prices.
