The answer is yes, British tourists do visit Antalya for their summer holidays and they buy property too. There is a large expat community who have made Antalya their home, it’s quite a mix of Brits, German and Russians who visit most often and settle there. Antalya is set on the gorgeous Mediterranean and this cosmopolitan city is the most visited tourist resort in Turkey and it’s not rocket science to see why.
There is 657 km (408 miles) of stunning coastline offering panoramic and picture postcard views of the Med and its home to 194 beaches that offer serenity where you can soak up the sun and relax. There is plenty to see and do in Antalya including places of interest and historical sites to visit with daily boat trips around the coves and bays plus daily excursions to nearby places of interest. Culture buffs will enjoy trips to the museum, art galleries and immerse themselves in the culture of this area. Bars, restaurants and cafes are in abundance with street festivals and events galore, plus designer shopping for those who love to flash their cash.
The climate is a major factor as to its popularity with hot and dry summers where we see temperatures averaging around 34°C or higher in July and August. The winters are mild which makes it a super location to send your time, year round and this is another reason why people buy in the Antalya area.
Antalya International Airport is just a 13km drive away from Antalya city centre – which means no long airport transfers if you pop home to the UK for example to visit your family and friends. It’s a bonus too for holiday makers especially if they have young children.
As we all know the Brits love their sport and Antalya has a great selection of sports on offer through the summer and winter months too. If you can name a water sport you can bet your bottom dollar you can take part in it in Antalya, such as surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling are just a few. The golfing centre of Belek is a mere 30 minutes away from the centre of Antalya and this is another reason the Brits like to live in this area.14 Championship golf courses can found and the ideal climate means golf is a popular year round sport.
Believe it or not you can even ski in the winter, nobody would blame you for thinking Antalya is just a summer destination but you need to think again. The Saklıkent ski resort is located on the Mediterranean 50km from the centre of Antalya and it sits on the peak of Bey Dağları (Bey Mountains) at an altitude of 2,400 meters. In 2017 approximately 45,000 people both local and foreign visited there from December to early April.
What are property prices like in Antalya?
This haven of a resort caters for every budget from stylish apartments to spacious villas and high end luxurious homes. Apartments with 2 bedrooms on a well kept complex with landscaped gardens and communal pool, children’s pool and underground parking start from around £50,000 which is a superb price.
If you want more space a 2 bedroom semi detached villa is currently for sale for less than £65,000 on a beautiful complex of villas with communal pool and gardens in lovely Kemer.
In Kemer again a 4 bedroom detached villa on a stunning complex with communal pool and beautiful gardens with amazing views is for sale for just £139,000 but I don’t think it will be long until that has been snapped up.
If you have 1.16 million to spare you can have yourself a 6 bedroom 6 bathroom eco friendly villa just 500 metres from the sea. This is luxury at its best with a private pool set in delightful gardens. Its state of the art design encompasses all you would expect from this modern architectural structure.
I am sure by now I have spiked your interest in Antalya – and I have only given you a glimpse of what there is in this excellent location. It’s a delightful city where you will see some famous names from the silver screen and famous Turkish actors, singers and well known personalities grace Antalya by spending their summer holidays there. The place to go is to the Marina which is filled with beautiful boats and yachts and equally beautiful people too.
Visit Antalya this year I’m sure you will love it, as do I.
