Turkey is the place to go if you’re looking for a great deal on a home. Affordable property can be found all over Turkey, but if you’re searching for anything under £50,000, head to the Aegean coast and the resort of Altinkum, also known as Didim. Altinkum sits in the province of Aydin and is just around an hour’s drive from Bodrum Airport, making it an ideal location for a vacation home.
Altinkum is a smallish town, not a major city. Still, it is a fantastic little holiday resort with everything you might want, perfect for families, couples, and friends; with not one but three amazing golden sandy beaches, this lovely busy coastal town has something for everyone. Altinkum translates to “golden sand,” which is where the main beach and tourist resort are located. The resort is located in the ever-popular Turkish town of Didim or Didyma.
Didim yacht marina
The spectacular 623 berth yacht Marina, with a heliport, excellent shopping centre, bars, and restaurants, and a total area of 287,000 m2, is situated between Parlementerler and the third beach, and its official name is Didim D-Marina. It is the largest Marina in the Southern Aegean, and rightfully so, boasting that it is more significant than Bodrum’s 450 berth location.
Temple of Apollo
The magnificent Apollo Temple and Oracle, located on the outskirts of town, is Didim’s most historical feature, with thousands of tourists flocking to see the beautiful ruins. It’s a must-see for history buffs, and guided tours are available to learn about the history of these ancient ruins. According to legend, Didim means “twin,” referring to Apollo and Artemis, the twin Gods and Goddesses who were said to have been born here.
Activities in Altinkum
There are numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants in Altinkum and a funfair for the kids. Water sports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, parasailing, water skiing, canoeing, banana rides, Jet Ski, and ringo, are available at the beach.
Boat rides, jeep safaris, Turkish nights, Turkish pools, cycling, and night market visits are all available regularly. Daily boat trips explore the surrounding bays, and day trips to the Greek island of Kos are also available. Nearby are the lovely resort towns of Kusadasi and Bodrum, which you can also visit, as well as the lovely village of Sirince, which has cobbled narrow streets and produces its wine, which you can sample before you purchase.
Lake Bafa for breakfast
Breakfast at Bafa Lake should be on your bucket list; it is surrounded by a natural park and is breathtakingly beautiful; it was once part of the Aegean Sea but became a lake due to the Great Menderes Delta. Bafa Lake and one of the restaurants here can be visited at any time of day, not just for breakfast; it’s a significant part of the day to visit and is enjoyed by tourists and locals.
Apartments for sale in Altinkum
Apartments for sale in Turkey offer beautiful two-bedroom apartments that are available at affordable prices. This is an excellent investment because you can rent your property out and earn a good profit. This holiday resort is thriving all year, and the season lasts around seven months. Tourists also visit during the winter months, as the winters are mild and at Christmas and New Year. Typically, a buyer’s first purchase is a two-bedroom apartment, followed by a decision to purchase a villa, thus retaining the original two-bedroom apartment as an investment to rent out, thus putting their money to work.
If you are searching for something more upmarket, go to Bodrum and its environs; the coastline is breathtaking, and Bodrum has a lot to offer for not much more money. Families, couples, and groups of friends visit this town, but the atmosphere is different. With its many beautiful buildings, history and architecture, castle, and luxury marina, it is a cosmopolitan city that attracts visitors worldwide.
