Turkey picked up two awards at the prestigious 2013 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets in Dubai this week, helping to boost its growing appeal to investors from international investors, particularly those from the Gulf states.
The Quasar development in Istanbul won the “Commercial and Mixed Use Project – Future” category, while the Akbati Shopping Mall, also in Istanbul, picked up first prize in the “Retail Project – Built” category.
Wouter Molman, Exhibition Director of Cityscape Global said: “The Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets this year attracted a total of 283 nominations from across the world, with only the finest 27 chosen to move forward to the final judging day this week. The quality of the nominations this year was incredibly high, and it’s great to see such a diverse range of projects celebrated on a global stage.”
Cityscape Global opened on 8th October, and was a hive of activity as leading international, regional, and local real estate developers showcased their latest projects and innovations to thousands of eager investors. With exhibition space growing by 50 per cent for the second year in a row, the three-day event has mirrored the positive sentiment that the real estate market has seen building up in the last two years.
Organised by Informa Exhibitions, the Middle East’s largest real estate event hosted 223 exhibitors from 19 countries this year, with 35 per cent of exhibition space occupied by international property developers. The largest international pavilion at this year’s Cityscape was occupied by Turkish developers.
