Turkey is certainly back on the map for tourists and visitors. Those of us who know Turkey well are already huge fans of the place but it seems Muğla really is the flavour of the month. Esteemed visitors have descended on this beautiful country for their summer holidays.
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and his family came to Turkey on holiday last week. Mr Johnson his wife and his four children landed at Dalaman airport and arrived at the Turkish resort in Muğla’s Göcek.
Apparently, they are taking a Gulet holiday which I have talked about via Blog earlier in the summer, organised by London-based Gulet Escapes, great advertising for them! They visited the stunning bays of Göcek, Dalyan, and Fethiye during their week long holiday. The owner of Gulet Escapes, Ahmet Güler, also thanked the Johnson family for their summer visit to Turkey.
Now we have proof that Bodrum is fit for royalty, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al Saud and his family arrived in Bodrum early on August 14th for a holiday. The Prince and his family continued to tour Muğla’s Bodrum district flanked by a large group of bodyguards whilst on their Turkish holiday.
The prince’s private jumbo jet landed at the Milas-Bodrum Airport under tight security measures. The family got into six VIP cars and one bus waiting on the runway and were escorted to the city centre by two police vehicles and security guards. Apparently, around 300 items of luggage and 30 bicycles were transferred to a villa in the Göltürkbükü neighbourhood where they will be staying.
It’s said that at least 40 bodyguards accompanied him as he rented out an entire café in Bodrum and that the prince stayed at the café for two hours with his friends and family members. True Turkish style Bodrum locals asked to be photographed with him, they love a selfie! I’m sure the owner of the café was delighted to welcome the Prince along with his family and friends, what a fantastic story to tell! The Saudi prince and his family will stay in Bodrum for a week and will later embark on a blue voyage with a private yacht.
Great news for Turkey and more so that the Prince who could choose to go anywhere in the world chose Turkey and chose Bodrum. I’m delighted that Turkey is once again receiving good and positive press and it will encourage visitors and holiday makers to visit this beautiful country. Huge thank you to Mr Johnson and Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al Saud for highlighting the picturesque province of Muğla including Göcek, Dalyan, and Fethiye and of course lovely Bodrum.
If you’re wondering where to take a late 2017 holiday or indeed plan for summer 2018 then look no further than Turkey, it’s a short haul flight, with wonderful coastlines, crystal jade waters, pristine beaches, 300 days of sunshine and warm friendly locals, what more could you ask for? It’s fit for a Prince!
