Wow – the current exchange rate from GBP to TL is high. That means if you holiday in Turkey now you are quid’s in. Which in turn means once your flights and accommodation is paid for you need very little spending money.
Turkey is currently riding high with holiday makers and tourists descending on its shores and only in the last few days it was announced that the gorgeous resort of Alanya has 100% occupancy rates on its hotel rooms. It goes without saying there are plenty of other beautiful resorts spread along the Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines that you can visit so you don’t need to worry about that.
Bodrum is a favourite destination along with Altinkum, Kusadasi and Fethiye and here you will find super locations for the family plus holidays in the likes of Hisaronu which is ideal for groups of friends. If you have yet to book your summer holiday why not give Turkey a try its a
tremendous deal and the climate is fabulous too!
Most of the international airports in the UK fly to the main resorts in Turkey frequently throughout the summer season, so you will be able to find last minute holidays available. Bodrum International Airport (BJV) serves, Bodrum, Altinkum, Akbuk and Kusadasi. Izmir International Airport (ADB) serves Izmir and Kusadasi. Dalaman International Airport (DLM)
serves, Dalaman, Dalyan, Fethiye and all the surrounding areas. Antalya International Airport
(AYT) serves Antalya, Alanya and surrounding areas. Istanbul of which there are 2 International Airports (IST & SAW) – soon to be 3 airports, serve Istanbul and surrounding areas. Transfers from the airports to resorts are generally around 1 hour or less.
Living in Turkey
This is also great for expats who live in Turkey or spend vast amounts of time here, our money goes much further and our savings are considerably boosted. It’s basically about quality of life and that is what you have in abundance in Turkey. When it comes to retiring I strongly recommend you give some consideration to Turkey, there are some wonderful expat communities with lots of activites to join.
Living in Turkey means you don’t have to worry about whether you can afford to go out at the weekend or meet friends for lunch or dinner. After you have spent your working years tied to times and clock watching, you can now relax in the sunshine (and it shines for 300 days a year) and enjoy the wonderful sea views if you are by the coast of course.
Bodrum in particular is a favourite of the British expats although there is a great mix of other European nationalities also. Take in to consideration that Bodrum International Airport is a mere 30 minutes from the centre of Bodrum it is handy for going back to the UK example for home visits to friends and family.
Property prices offer superb value for money with 2 bedroom apartments starting from under £40,000 situated on a complex with excellent facilities with the most amazing panoramic sea views. Living on a complex is ideal if you like to socialise and you don’t want the hassle of tending your own garden or private pool. The beauty is it is all taken care of for you, there is a monthly or yearly fee and generally it can be from £30 per month to £50 and the fees can go up or down yearly.
However, if you prefer your own space then opt for a villa and in total honesty if you decide to live full time in Turkey a villa is the option to go for if your budget allows. Why? You will need the extra space, there will be more outside living space which you need during the summer months, think about it, you can sit and enjoy your breakfast outside, your lunch and dinner and simply enjoy the balmy evenings. Also you will have guests coming from home to see you and the extra bedrooms and bathrooms will be needed.
Villas currently for sale in Bodrum start from under £102,000 and some are close to the sea only a 400 metre stroll away. If you like some privacy this may be the better for you. Villas can either be on a complex with other villas or stand alone (detached in their own grounds). If in their own grounds then you will pay more for a villa as you will be getting garden areas or even your own private pool.
Enjoy Turkey – it’s wonderful!
